Jambo! Charles Maina, owner and guide, is a Kikuyu born and was raised on the slopes of Mt. Kenya at a time when wildlife would roam freely through our villages. Understanding the wild animals and knowing their behaviors was a must in order to remain safe from the lions, leopards, or elephants. Growing up in this situation taught me to understand and respect the African wildlife.
After college, I worked in Maasai Mara National Park leading game drives with clients from all over the globe. It was there that I learned proper wildlife tracking and observing skills.
I ventured out of Maasai Mara and worked for an overlanding company as a tour leader/ mechanic / driver. I led safaris throughout eastern and southern Africa. I traveled with passengers for weeks or months at a time. It was on an overlanding tour where I met my wife, Jen. We continued to worked together providing travelers with opportunities to experience the wildlife, culture and beauty of Africa. We are extremely familiar with the routes, people, languages, lodging, borders, wildlife and, most importantly, how to make an overland trip outstanding!!
Now living in northern California, USA, it has been a dream of ours to get back to overlanding and to offer others an African adventure safari of a lifetime. Since Jen is a science teacher and does not work in the summertime, we are happy to offer a few trips, with the hopes of more to come in the future.
